With only one prelims match left for both teams, here’s how the final playoff spot will be decided.

FARM FRESH (3-4)

Final prelims match: Akari (Aug. 20)

In the case of Farm Fresh, to advance is simple. It only has to beat Akari on Tuesday, either by three, four or five sets, it does not matter. It is because the Foxies enjoy a superior seven-game record over Choco Mucho with one prelims match left.

A win by Akari, however, will not be the end of Farm Fresh. There is a chance the two teams may meet again in the quarterfinals because Akari, with its unbeaten 8-0 record will get the top seed and will face the eighth seed, which might be Farm Fresh, depending the result of the Choco Mucho-PLDT game.

CHOCO MUCHO (2-5)

Final prelims match: PLDT (Aug. 22)

A loss by Farm Fresh makes Choco Mucho's game on Thursday very important.

If Farm Fresh loses in three or four sets to Akari, Choco Mucho just needs to win over playoff-bound PLDT to advance to the quarterfinal regardless of the number of sets by virtue of match points. It will then become the eighth seed.

However, a five-set Farm Fresh loss to Akari will have implications for Choco Mucho.

Choco Mucho will then have to defeat PLDT in three or four sets to secure a superior match-point total, while a five-set Choco Mucho win in this case will draw both teams level in match points at nine.

From there, the remainder of the tie-breaking metrics will come into play, starting with sets ratio followed by points ratio to determine which team becomes the No. 8 seed. That would be Farm Fresh.

The head-to-head metric won’t apply as Choco Mucho (Pools B and C) and Farm Fresh (Pools A and D) did not cross paths in pool play.
