ZUS Coffee dealt Creamline back-to-back league losses for the first time in over a year after a 24-26, 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11 in the 2025 PVL on Tour on Saturday in Passi City, Iloilo.
It also marked the Thunderbelles’ first franchise win over the 10-time PVL champions in over a year since joining the PVL.
Chinnie Arroyo's 23-point night steered ZUS Coffee to its second win in three preseason matches -- all being five-set contests.
AC Miner continued to impress in just her third PVL match with 16 points on 14 attacks and two aces.
"Masaya, of course, Creamline 'yan," said ZUS Coffee head coach Jerry Yee.
"It’s great na meron kaming ganyang improvements. We’re moving slowly pero yun ang gusto namin, moving progressively and improving."
Cool Smashers melt down
Creamline failed to recover from its shock sweep loss to Cignal in San Juan three weeks ago, the team's first straight-sets loss in over a year since getting swept by Chery Tiggo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna during the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference,
That conference was also the last time the Cool Smashers were dealt back-to-back defeats where it lost to PLDT to end prelims play in four sets before losing its five-set semis opener to Choco Mucho just five days later.
Moreover, ZUS Coffee surprisingly out-attacked a spiker-laden Creamline team, 70 to 59, despite producing five less blocks (4 to 9) and two less aces (4 to 6).
Jema Galanza paced the loss with 21 points on 16 attacks, three blocks and two aces alongside a 16-point, 21-reception double-double from captain Alyssa Valdez.
As such, the Cool Smashers slid to 2-2 in Pool B.
Both teams play again in less than a day's time to close out pool play hostilities with Creamline taking on Chery Tiggo and ZUS Coffee facing an unbeaten Cignal side.
