DASMARINAS, Cavite — Chery Tiggo cruised to the 2025 PVL on Tour quarterfinals with a 25-23, 25-22, 25-21 sweep of Galeries Tower to close put Sunday’s knockout-round twin bill opener.
Ara Galang dished out an 11-point, 11-dig double-double, while Cess Robles added 13 markers including the last two points to seal the straight-sets win.
Imee Hernandez and Shaya Adorador also had back-to-back seven-point outputs.
Counting regular PVL conferences, this will be the Crossovers’ fourth playoff stint in five csince the 2023 Second All-Filipino Conference.
Standing in Chery Tiggo’s way of a return trip to the semifinals is Nxled, the preseason’s biggest surprise package that only lost once in five prelims matches.
"Kanina, nung nagwawarm-up sila before going inside the court, kinausap ko na sina Ara, Aby at Jasmine na ‘wag niyong sukuan ‘tong game na ‘to knowing how important this game is," said Chery Tiggo head coach Norman Miguel.
"Ang daming mga lessons na kailangang matutunan. Binigyan tayo ng opportunity to go to the quarterfinals. At least alam na namin yung mga preparations na kailangan naming gawin. It’s more on the character talaga. Skills, nandyan na 'yan eh."
Galeries Tower bows out of playoff contention after a breakthrough quarterfinals appearance in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference just four months ago.
Full throttle to the playoffs
Despite finishing pool play winless, the Highrisers kept Galang & Co. on their toes in their knockout round duel.
Only the late breaks of each of the three sets swung the match towards Chery Tiggo's direction.
In Set 3, Galeries Tower even took a 17-15 lead that was ripped to shreds by a quick six-point Chery Tiggo blitz.
Galang and Robles delivered the final blows with their signature hits to book their playoff ticket with only a week's time to prepare.
