CHERY Tiggo defeated Farm Fresh in their opening match in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.
In ace spiker Mylene Paat's absence, Cess Robles led the Crossovers with 10 attack points.
Chery too strong for Farm Fresh
The Foxies remain winless in the league, six straight matches dating to their debut conference three months ago.
“I’m just happy that the players are healthy,” Chery Tiggo head coach Aaron Velez said.
“Okay ‘yung start namin nung Sets 1 and 2 pero slow start kami nung third. But because of their determination, nagkakaroon na rin kami ng gelling kaya naitawid namin and thank you sa mga players na nag-push,” he added.
Chery was without Paat, who hurt her right foot during offseason practice, but the Crossovers still got the quick win, with the Laure sisters Eya and EJ combining for 27 points.
The Crossovers needed a 10-1 run to take control in the first set and a spirited fightback from eight points down in the third to keep the Foxies at bay.

Sophomore Trisha Tubu paced the Foxies with 15 markers.
Chery Tiggo next takes on PVL newcomer Galeries Tower as Farm Fresh battles Choco Mucho at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Thursday.
