IT didn’t take long for Chery Tiggo to surge back to winning ways.
The Crossovers raced back on track with a quick 26-24, 25-15, 25-18 rout over winless Nxled in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
Cess Robles had her best game under former NU mentor-turned-Chery Tiggo head coach Norman Miguel with 15 points, eight digs and three receptions.
Team captain Aby Maraño also produced a steady 11-piece on eight attacks, two aces and one block.
A game of runs saw the Crossovers complete a 13-5 set-clinching run in the opening frame ahead of an early 13-2 run and a 10-3 finisher in the final set to keep the Chameleons at bay for their third straight defeat.
Familiarity breeds success
Robles and Miguel were both integral to National University’s most recent championship successes over the last three UAAP seasons.
To have a familiar face calling the shots in the pros gives the 27-year-old a comforting feeling, with adjustments upon Miguel’s arrival minimal, being used to his old winning style.
With all the departure for Chery Tiggo, is there pressure for Robles to perform and lead? Not quite.
“No pressure.
