SAN Beda University scored its first win in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, dealing San Sebastian College its fifth loss, 25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 25-16, on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Team captain Cesca Racraquin, who missed two games due to a left knee and ankle injury, scored 18 points from nine attacks and nine service aces, and also had 15 excellent receptions for San Beda.
Maria Nieza Viray scored 15 and Satrriani Espiritu added 13 points as Lady Red Spikers finally won after starting the tournament with three straight losses.
“Kasi nga pwersado na kami kailangan din na maipanalo na namin ‘yung game kasi ilang sunud-sunod na talo and then si Cesca nakabalik na rin, so malakibg tulong ‘yun sa team,” said SBU coach Nemesio Gavino Jr.
The Lady Red Spikers are still on the final four race and the win served as a big morale boost.
Joyce Sta. Rita scored 13 points for SSC, while Sofia Sarmiento chipped in 10 as the Recto-based squad bowed out of contention.
