SAN Beda University captain Cesca Racraquin and the Lady Red Spikers are bringing a precious lesson from their Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference stint despite blowing their chance to force a playoff for the last semifinals berth.

Racraquin admitted that University of the Philippines really dominated the Lady Red Spikers in their 19-25, 16-25, 9-25 loss where she was limited to only four points on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.

“Solid ‘yung UP, solid ‘yung play nila. I think kontrapelo ‘yung game nila sa game namin. So ayun ‘yung nangyari parang di kami nakaporma,” Racraquin said after the setback that ended their PVL stint with a 2-5 win-loss record at sixth place.

The Lady Red Spikers skipper, who averaged 13 points in five games she played, believes that her team is still working on their team chemistry, especially with their new setter Lynne Matias.

“Sobrang rocky talagang alam mong rebuilding pa ‘yung team lalo na sa important role ng setter talagang kailangan niya pa magstep up,” the NCAA Season 93 MVP candidate said. “Dito namin naprove na talagang kailangan pa niya magwork hard kasi may leagues kami na sinalihan before this and nananalo kami doon. Dito siya natest kasi yung mga kalaban dito higher level and talagang magagaling yung teams and setters nila napapaikot yung play.”

“Na-challenge kami as a whole na rin nakita namin kung ano yung mga kailangan namin iimprove coming into NCAA,” she added.

For Racraquin, the PVL stint helped her in embracing her responsibility as the team captain, getting more patience in leading her team.

“Patience kasi as a captain pala kailangan ikaw yung hindi bumibitaw tsaka ikaw yung hindi nagagalit,” the 21-year-old outside hitter said.

With barely two months to go before the NCAA Season 94 opens, Racraquin said that they haven’t reached their peak but the Lady Red Spikers are not rushing their way to their strong form as they patiently work on their net and floor defense.

So kailangan namin magstep up sa blockings namin.”
