THE Cebuano connection runs deep for two of Choco Mucho’s most valuable stars in Sisi Rondina and Deanna Wong.
Hailing from the town of Compostela, the 5-foot-6 high-flyer rose through the ranks upon taking her talents to University of Sto. Tomas, Choco Mucho and eventually in Alas Pilipinas.

The one Cebuano attribute she believes she shares best with the Minglanilla-born Wong? Their never-say-die spirit.
“Lumalaban kami ni Deanna (dahil) china-callenge namin ‘yung sarili namin na dehado man kami pero hindi kami magpapatalo,” Rondina shared with SPIN.ph.

In nearly two years together as Flying Titans, Rondina grew fond of playing with Wong given how strong spiker-setter connections are a must for any title-contending team.
More than a few things tie Choco Mucho’s Cebuano duo: their home province, their relatively short stature, and speaking the same native dialect.
In fact, communicating with each other in Cebuano has tied them closer together on and off the court, from pressure-packed in-game sequences to post-game press conferences.
That’s why even if Choco Mucho has had a tough string of difficult moments as of late, Rondina and Wong always have each other to lean on.
“Nakikita ko ‘yun kay Deanna na same kami ng ugali, medyo busangot lang siya,” Rondina said in jest.
“’Yun ‘yung pareho naming advantage kasi bukod sa same kami ng dialect, madali na lang intindihin lahat ng gusto niyang ipagawa at lahat ng gusto kong ipagawa sa kanila.”
