IN team sports, the greatest one-woman acts rarely lead to lasting success.
Bella Belen’s campaign with Capital1 in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference has become the latest example of that reality.
The three-time UAAP MVP has been nothing short of spectacular, averaging 26.4 points through the Solar Spikers’ first five games and piling up 132 total markers without dropping below the 20-point mark each and every match.
Yet despite Belen’s offensive explosion night after night, Capital1 continues to struggle to translate her heroics into consistent wins.
Outside of their season-opening victory over ZUS Coffee, where four players - led by Belen, of course - scored in double-digits, the Solar Spikers’ attack has largely been a one-player operation.
Only Shaya Adorador has produced double-digit scoring more than once this conference apart from Belen, finishing with 13 points against PLDT and 10 against Nxled.
The rest of the roster has struggled to provide steady support.
That imbalance was laid bare in Capital1’s recent sweep at the hands of longtime power Creamline.

Belen delivered a massive 26-point outburst, but the support behind her was minimal.
Ypril Tapia managed just four points, while Leila Cruz and Sydney Niegos added three apiece. Ezra Madrigal, France Ronquillo, Ysa Jimenez, and Cherry Nunag contributed only two markers each.
In short, those players merged for 21 points - five short of what their franchise player delivered all by her lonesome.
The lopsided production exposed a growing concern that while Belen can most definitely carry the load, she cannot carry it all alone.
Even Belen herself, typically reserved when discussing team dynamics, acknowledged the issue following the loss.
The Solar Spikers’ post-game talk centered on their heavy reliance on her scoring and the urgent need for collective production.
“Na-address siya kanina sa dugout. Siguro, concerning na siya since volleyball is a team effort at hindi naman po siya isa lang,” said Belen.
“Hindi talaga mananalo kapag ganun po kalayo ‘yung agwat ng scoring.”
Still, the once-NU standout emphasized that her responsibility remains the same: to give everything she can regardless of circumstances.
“I’m always doing my best talaga, kung ano ‘yung alam kong kaya ko gawin for the team, kung ano ‘yung kaya ko maitulong,” she said.
“Dala na rin siya sa mga past experiences ko, and it boils down sa isang player na lang talaga kung paano siya magpe-perform.”
This is where Capital1 stands
At the same time, Capital1’s clash with the Cool Smashers served as more than just another game. It was a measuring stick for a young squad still searching for identity and cohesion.
The result highlighted how far the Solar Spikers must go to match the consistency and balance of established contenders.
“I feel like malayo pa talaga since ‘yung Creamline, matagal na silang magkakasama. Kilala na nila ‘yung isa’t-isa, pero kami, papunta pa lang kami du’n,” she said.
“Nakikita ko na pwede namin maabot at pwede kami makadikit sa ganung klaseng paglalaro. Kailangan lang namin mag-work as a team at magsumipag as players.”
For now, Belen continues to deliver superstar numbers.
But Capital1's rise will depend not only on her brilliance, but on how quickly the rest of the team catches up to shine alongside her.
