CAGAYAN Valley bounced back with a 25-17, 25-10, 25-19 rout of Philippine Coast Guard on Tuesday in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Janine Marciano stepped up in the absence of skipper Angge Tabaquero, scoring 10 points to help the Lady Rising Suns recover from a four-set loss to unbeaten league leader PLDT.
Aiza Maizo-Pontillas scored nine, while Rosemarie Vargas and Wenneth Eulalio had seven each for Cagayan Valley, which scored its third win in four matches.
The Rising Suns are in third spot behind PLDT (4-0) and Army (4-1).
Tabaquero is out due to a sprained right shoulder sustained from a bad fall in the match against PLDT.
The match lasted one hour and 11 minutes, but Cagayan Valley coach Nes Pamilar believes they could have finished it quicker.
“Hindi pa rin kasi nakikita ng coaching staff ang hinahanap namin mula sa players,” said Pamilar.
“Sana kasi ’yung intensity ng game kahit sino ang kalaban dapat mataas.”
Cagayan Valley rained nine service aces against just one by Coast Guard.
Skipper Rossan Fajardo scored 15 points for the Lady Dolphins, who are winless in five outings.
