CAGAYAN Valley is looking to take the solo lead even as Fourbees-Perpetual Help aims to snap out of a two-game losing skid when they face separate opponents Thursday in the Shakey's V-League Season 12 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Rising Suns take on lowly Baguio in the main game at 4 p.m., while the Lady Altas tangle with Philippine Coast Guard in the curtain raiser at 2 p.m.
Cagayan Valley is currently involved in a four-way logjam on top along with Philippine Army, PLDT Home Ultera, and Meralco, all with identical 1-0 card.
Fourbees-Perpetual Help on the other hand, is in the bottom of the standings after losing its first two games against heavyweights Cagayan and Army, respectively.
The Lady Rising Suns had a balanced scoring in their straight sets win over Fourbees, with skipper Angge Tabaquero and Janine Navarro both leading the way with nine markers.
For Baguio to get past Cagayan, it needed to improve on its reception after the Lady Rising Suns scored on 12 service aces against the Lady Altas the last time.
The Baguio selection is at the lower half of the standings with a 0-1 record tied with Philippine Coast Guard after a straight set loss to PLDT Home Ultera on Tuesday, 10-25, 16-25, 21-25.
Coast Guard, fresh from a 24-26, 14-25, 18-25 loss to Philippie Navy on Sunday, will again lean on Rossan Fajardo, who had 18 points in the loss.
