IT didn't take Brooke Van Sickle long to feel home after just two weeks with the Petro Gazz Angels.

The 24-year-old Fil-American ace, hailing from the University of Hawaii and Cypriot club AEL Limassol, gave some insights into her stay in the Philippines.

"It’s going really good. I was only here like two weeks ago. Like the first day, I was not even here for 48 hours and I already felt like I was at home. The girls are so welcoming and I can’t be more grateful. I’m super happy," Van Sickle said.

She, however, admitted feeling the 'butterflies' before taking on the taraflex in Manila for the first time.

"There’s butterflies going on (in my stomach) before the game. But my teammates are super supportive and, you know, I feel like we’re doing very well. We’re getting chemistry as a team together, slowly and surely," she added.

Philippine volleyball is 'legit'

Van Sickle has played just one game and already she's impressed with the quality of play of her teammates and opponents.

"It’s legit. This is super cool, super fun. I’m stoked to be able to be a part of this. Absolutely grateful. I’m excited to see how the season goes," said Van Sickle.

The newest Angel also shared two new things she's eager to take on in her Philippine stint — the Japanese-inspired system of new Petro Gazz head coach Koji Tsuzurabara and the local culture.

"(Coach Koji's system is) new for me and all the girls. He’s a super great coach and he’s definitely pushing our mental capacity in the gym which is just gonna show great things on the court. I’m just excited to see how we develop as a team and he’s giving us good stuff."

Van Sickle added: "Obviously, (I can't wait to experience) the volleyball, the food, the culture, you know, be able to immerse myself and be able to get to know my teammates and build relationships and make this my second home."
