BROOKE Van Sickle has never won a league championship in nearly two decades playing volleyball.
She’s now two wins away from her first after Petro Gazz completed a three-game sweep of the round-robin semifinals to book the first seat in the PVL All-Filipino conference finals.
The 27-year-old American ace first had her big break in the US NCAA, playing for University of Oregon and the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
While she had a few conference titles, none were as big or major than an actual league crown — one that continues to elude her even with a handful of MVP plums both in beach and indoor volleyball.

“Back in college, I won conference titles. Only within our conference. But then you go against the whole US NCAA which is big,” Van Sickle told SPIN.ph.
“The highest I’ve ever placed was the Elite Eight, so I haven’t won like a top championship kind of prize. Only two conference titles in college but none bigger than that.”
Her very first Philippine stint was a victorious one when the Angels won a preseason title in the PNVF Champions League just before the 2024 PVL season went underway.
She’d go on to win conference MVP in All-Filipino play. But the only thing that matters now is winning her first championship and the Angels’ third in franchise history.
“I’m super stoked. This is awesome. I don’t think I’ve processed it fully yet,” BVS said.
“I’m just like, ‘yes, we did it.’ I’m trying to calm myself down, listen to my body, waiting to go in the locker room and just celebrate.
“This is the biggest (moment of my career) because it’s professional. There’s nothing beyond that.”
