It’s been just under two years since Petro Gazz ace Brooke Van Sickle burst onto the Philippine volleyball scene.
Since then, she has collected three PVL conference MVP awards in record pace, a feat previously achieved by only two players in the league’s eight-year history in Creamline's Alyssa Valdez and Tots Carlos.

Van Sickle also mirrored Valdez’s pace in completing the MVP treble, as both secured their third MVP award in their fifth PVL conference. Valdez reached the milestone at 26 years old, while BVS did it even earlier at 24.
This early into her PVL career, is it time to include the 24-year-old Fil-American spiker in the conversation among the league’s all-time greats?
Unlike Valdez, who recorded only one champion-MVP run, Van Sickle now has two in the same calendar year.

Carlos, meanwhile, won championships in all three of her MVP conference, but both Creamline icons built those resumes within a dynasty that has dominated the PVL since 2017.
Valdez now holds 10 PVL crowns, while Carlos has been part of all six Creamline pro-era titles since 2021.
Van Sickle’s total of two championships may look modest for now, but in less than two years, her trajectory suggests she may be the missing piece capable of pushing four-time champion Petro Gazz toward true dynasty status.
Her third MVP campaign saw her finish 10th in scoring among all players, including imports, with 160 points, good for a 20-point average in the preliminaries. She also ranked ninth in spiking success rate at 35.48 percent and added a strong 3.23 digs per set, highlighting her dual-threat capability.
She also delivered triple-doubles in both the quarterfinal win that dethroned Creamline and the semifinal escape against Akari, then capped her run with 20 points and nine receptions to help Petro Gazz clinch its fourth PVL crown.
And for a team that nearly slipped out of playoff contention early in the conference, Van Sickle’s ability to rise when Petro Gazz needed her most defined her MVP, and maybe even her case as the league's future G.O.A.T., or greatest of all time.
“We all kind of had to come collectively together in many do-or-die situations for us,” Van Sickle said. “Our team just had that grit and stayed locked in and focused when it really matters.
“It just goes to show, it doesn't matter how you start in a season. It just matters how you finish.”
