FAR Eastern University joined the early leaders as it edged San Sebastian, 25-21, 20-25, 25-11, 25-20, on Tuesday in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Super rookie Bernadette Pons led the way for the Lady Tamaraws with 21 points, while Mary Palma added 15 and guest player Toni Basas had 11.
“Ok lang syempre first game pa lang naman ito may mga adjustments pa na kailangan gawin, pero all in all naman ok ang nilaro ng mga bata,” said FEU coach Shaq delos Santos.
FEU shares the top spot in Group B with National University at 1-0.
Yna Papa also grabbed a share of the spotlight, posting 30 excellent sets as the starting setter in place of veteran Gyzelle Sy, who skipped the game due to schoolwork.
“Ok naman siya, may mga errors ’di naman maiiwasan ’yun, pero wala namang masama na nangyari, kaya ok lang,” said De los Santos.
Gretchel Soltones came up with 17 points but made an early exit after twisting her left ankle halfway through the fourth set, while guest player Maru Banaticla contributed 15 markers for San Sebastian.
SSC joined University of Perpetual Help at the bottom with a 0-1 card.
