IT’s now or never for Far Eastern University and Arellano as they battle for the remaining semifinal berth in Group II on Tuesday in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
National University had clinched the first semifinal berth with a 2-0 card and now FEU and Arellano, both at 1-1, are left to battle for the other slot.
The match starts at 2 p.m.
The Davao selection also goes for a semifinal spot, while Adamson tries to keep its hopes alive in Group I action at 4 p.m.
Bernadette Pons and Mary Palma have been playing steady and FEU got the added boost when it tapped national team members Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga as new guest players.
Lady Tamaraws mentor Shaq de los Santos admitted they lacked leaders in the team and the addition of former league MVP Gonzaga and former Finals MVP Daquis was a huge boost as evidenced in a quick straight sets win over St. Benilde on Sunday.
“Unang una kaya namin sila kinuha kasi kailangan namin ng magli-lead sa team. Kasi ’yun ang kulang,” said De los Santos.
Daquis and Gonzaga were brought in to replace Toni Basas and Gyzelle Sy for the quarterfinals. They came up with 10 markers each to help FEU win against St. Benilde, 25-18, 25-18, 25-17.
Arellano, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back from a shutout loss to National University and hopes to get big games from Menchie Tubiera, Danna Henson, Shirley Salmagos and Cristine Rosario to clinsh a spot in the round of rour.
Davao is also a win away from the last four after defeating Ateneo in a five-setter.
The UST Tigresses lead the group with a 2-0 card and Davao will join them in the semis with a win over Adamson.
