COACH Shaq de los Santos was pleased to see Bernadeth Pons and Remy Palma come up with solid performances for Far Eastern University in their third straight day in action after back-to-back matches with their club Petron.
De los Santos himself is a member of the Petron coaching staff but the FEU mentor continues to remind Pons and Palma their responsibility as Lady Tamaraws players.
“‘Yung sa PSL iba rin ’yun, and sa FEU syempre ang obligasyon natin dito (sa school) ’wag natin kakalimutan and syempre school ang dala natin,” he said.
Pons and Palma played for Petron against F2 on Saturday, Army on Sunday before suiting up for FEU on Monday against College of St. Benilde.
Good thing for the FEU duo, it was a quick three-setter aagaunst the CSB side.
“Actually pang third day na nilang naglalaro but of course unang una, sinasabi namin sa kanila, kinakausap namin sila ng personal, na kailangan magpahinga lang kayo pag may time,” said De los Santos.
“Kinakausap lang namin sila, pahinga lang not only sa physical but also sa mind nila kasi sila ang mga leader namin sa team kailangan mahatak nila ang mga bago (na players),” he added.
De los Santos noted it was just one short tough stretch, and that they will have a much better schedule in the coming weeks.
The FEU duo will again see action for Petron in the PSL on Saturday against F2 Logistics before FEEU plays San Beda in the V-League on Wednesday (August 10) and University of the Philippines on August 20.
“After ng August 10 namin next namin August 20 tapos na ang PSL noon, so makakapahinga pa kami,” said De los Santos.
