CHICAGO - If the steam cloud in your coffee zig-zagged out of the mug to form a question mark this morning, that's probably because a volleyball mystery deepened overnight.
The immediate future of National University Lady Bulldogs stars Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon still hangs in the balance hours after the deadline to put their names in the 2025 PVL Draft passed.

"I heard that both will join the PVL draft," a high-ranking league official told SPIN.ph at 11:27 pm on Friday. "I'll know by tomorrow if they'll beat the deadline."
It's Saturday morning now, cloudy in Manila, says the weather forecast. And beneath the haze nothing has emerged.. No smoke of any color has emitted from the chimney of the PVL offices.
But one man, the dude in charge of the list, knows for sure: Sherwin Malonzo.
Unfortunately, the commissioner ain't talking, resisting several calls and text messages seeking for an update.

What's clear is that both ladies are generational talents who will make an immediate impact in the league in both popularity and competitive fight.
Solomon is a towering presence at 6-foot-2 and 141 pounds. At age 23, she'll have years to dominate as an opposite hitter.
The 22-year old Belen, a 5-foot-8, 148-lb outside hitter, is similarly gifted as a leader and scorer. She, too, has a bright future ahead.
That's of course if they choose not to take their powers overseas.
The longer the official announcement stalls the more scared fans become. Because if Belen and Solomon are really staying home you'd think the league would have already touted it proudly last night, right?
