BANKO moved a step closer to the bronze medal, defeating Motolite, 25-23, 25-23, 25-18, in Game One of the best-of-three battle for third series of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Wednesday.

Team captain Nicole Tiamzon finished with 13 points for the Perlas Spikers, who came off a painful semifinals loss to PetroGazz.

“Prinomise namin sa sarili namin sa last game na hindi pa tapos ang season,” said Dzi Gervacio.

Sue Roces and Dzi Gervacio each had 11 markers and Kathy Bersola chipped in 10 points in the match that took an hour and 29 minutes to finish.

BanKo, which finished fourth in the Reinforced Conference, is looking to end the series on Saturday.

“We promised ourselves that we’ll finish on a good note. Naipakita naman namin today and siguro nakatulong din ang mahabang pahinga kasi madami-dami sa amin ang injured,” she added.

Myla Pablo and Tots Carlos tallied 14 points apiece for Motolite.
