BATANGAS City — BanKo Perlas bagged the bronze in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, defeating Petro Gazz, 25-18, 26-24, 25-21, on Saturday to complete a sweep of the battle for third at Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
Dzi Gervacio tallied 16 points for the Perlas Spikers, while Joy Dacoron added 15 and second best middle blocker Kathy Bersola chipped in 12.
BanKo, which won the series opener in four sets, settles for the bronze after finishing the elimination round in the No. 2 spot only to bow to Ateneo-Motolite in the semis.
“Deserve namin 'tong bronze gawa nga noong standing namin. Siguro, 'yung frustration namin na hindi nakapasok ng Finals, nagamit namin as motivation dito, magandang bawi,” said BanKo coach Dong dela Cruz.
“Although very frustrating and heart-breaking 'yung nangyari sa amin nitong conference, hindi pa naman doon natatapos 'yun,” he said.
“May pinaglaban kaming bronze. Very proud ako sa team kasi tinalo naman lahat ng teams,” he added.
Cherry Nunag finished with 10 points for Petro Gazz, while Jonah Sabete added nine markers.
