BANKO boosted its chance for a spot in the final four of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, defeating Motolite, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21, on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Dzi Gervacio led the way with 20 points for the Perlas Spikers, while Sue Roces added 13 and team captain Nicole Tiamzon chipped in 12 markers and 12 digs.
Coming off back-to-back losses, BanKo improved to the No. 4 spot with a 7-5 win-loss record, while Motolite remained at the No. 3 spot with a 7-4 card, while Creamline is at No. 1 (10-0) and PetroGazz is at No. 2 (7-2).
“No. 1 is the attitude sa loob ng court, whatever happens the good or bad, dapat everything’s positive at saka may reminder kami na we should always help each other,” said Gervacio.
“It’s the vibe [that changed] we just have to keep a positive energy inside [the court] no matter what happens we just have to think na the best games we played each in everyone of us is happy, cheering, never tumahimik,” she added.
Unlike their first meeting, BanKo was already ahead, 2-0, before Motolite threatened and dragged the the Perlas Spikers to a decifing.
Motolite then completed a come-from-behind, 25-16, 25-21, 19-25, 29-31, 19-17, to frustrate BanKo.
“No nga eh, it’s good also na we did not expect this parang we were expecting the worst but everything just went our way so that was good for us,” said Gervacio.
“It’s also a reminder na we can do so well if we just put our mind into it,” she added.
Tots Carlos finished with 14 points for Motolite, while Myla Pablo and Isa Molde had 10 markers apiece.
