BanKo edges Pacifictown-Army in five to book PVL semis ticket

BanKo turns back Pacifictown-Army to join Creamline in PVL semis

BANKO clinched a semifinal berth in the PVL Open Conference as it beat Pacifictown-Army, 25-27, 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9, on Sunday at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.

Sue Roces finished with 20 points, including two blocks and two service aces, for the Perlas Spikers, who joined Creamline in the final four.

Dzi Gervacio had 18 markers, including two blocks, while making 12 digs and nine receptions, while team captain Nicole Tiamzon chipped in 17 attacks and 10 digs.

Jem Ferrer had 30 excellent sets for BanKo, which copped its 10th win in 15 outings.

Royse Tubino led the way for the Lady Troopers with 21 points, including two blocks and two service aces, while making seven digs. Jovelyn Gonzaga was impressive both offensively and defensively with 20 points, 27 digs and 13 excellent receptions.

Pacifictown-Army slipped to a tie with Air Force at 6-7, two-and-a-half games behind Motolite (9-5) in the race for the last semifinal berth.
