NICOLE Tiamzon powered BanKo in completing an elimination-round sweep of BaliPure, 25-16, 25-12, 16-25, 25-20, and kick off its second-round campaign on a high note in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.
After a heartbreaking five-set loss to Motolite last Wednesday, Tiamzon erupted with 22 points to bring back the winning ways of the Perlas Spikers, overcoming the Water Defenders in an hour and 38 minutes.
The BanKo skipper nailed 21 kills for a game-high scoring performance. Dzi Gervacio delivered 12 points, highlighted by four kills block. Sue Roces added nine markers, while setter Jem Ferrer paced her spikers with 30 excellent sets.
“Thankful din na nakabounce back kami after the five-set loss (sa Motolite) but yun nga marami pa kaming kailangan iimprove,” said Tiamzon.

However, the former University of the Philippines star stressed that their third set letdown should serve as a lesson for their team.
“Dapat hindi talaga nagiging complacent kahit sinong team at sino pang kalaban mo. Kung kaya namin sinulan ng maayos kailangan rin namin tapusin ng maayos,” she added.
BanKo grabbed the solo third place with a 6-3 win-loss record.
BaliPure leaned on Grace Bombita scoring 14 points as well as Menchie Tubiera, Shirley Salamago and Satrriani Espiritu, who had 13 markers each, to put up a gallant stand only to fall short in the fourth set.
The Water Defenders dropped to 2-7 card after giving up 27 errors unlike the Perlas Spikers, who only had 14 miscues.
