GRAZIELLE Bombita lifted BaliPure in finally ending a 12-game losing streak, eluding Air Force, 26-24, 16-25, 25-19, 17-25, 17-15, in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Bombita, who was playing through leg cramps, pushed the Water Defenders at match point, 16-15, with a kill before Dell Palomata committed an attack error that handed BaliPure’s first win since returning to the league last Reinforced conference, where they finished winless in 10 games.
The Bicolana hitter finished with 23 points laced with 15 digs as BaliPure improved to 1-2 win-loss record.
“Sobrang nakakarelieve kasi gustong gusto ko manalo para sa girls kasi I know kung gano kalaki ng sinasakripisyo nila at yung pagod nila kada training,” said BaliPure head coach Rommel Abella. “Nung crucial part it showed yung heart ng mga players especially si Grace nagcacramps na pero she fought through it.”
Menchie Tubiera was also instrumental with 17 points and 20 digs. Satrriani Espiritu had 13 points, while Vira Guillema paced the squad with 24 excellent sets.
The Water Defenders flirted with disaster after failing to close out the match in the fourth set and almost lost in the fifth set as the Lady Jet Spikers held the match point twice but Tubiera’s attack and Guillema’s dropball forced two deuces before Bombita’s clutch attack.
Palomata and Jozza Mae Cabalsa led Air Force with 13 points apiece, while Angel Antipuesto had 12 markers only for the Lady Jet Spikers to remain winless in three games.
