BALI Pure formally entered the semifinals after making short work of Baguio, 25-18, 25-14, 25-18, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Wednesday.
Grethcel Soltones scored 20 points as the Water Defenders scored their fifth win in six matches, joining undefeated Pocari Sweat (5-0) in the next round.
Amy Ahomiro had 12 points and Dzi Gervacio added 11, while Star player Alyssa Valdez had a quiet outing with only eight points.
“That’s why part of the team play is that everyone is engaged and involved para walang player din na she doesn’t feel na she’s not part of the team or she’s not helping,” said playing coach Charo Soriano.
“Not everyone will always get the main role as I say, even a supporting role can be the best role as long as it helps the goal which of course is a win for us,” she added.
The star-studded Bali Pure squad will face the Lady Warriors on Saturday to cap its elimination round. The team spent almost an hour after the match talking about their next outing.
“We were discussing a lot of things din kasi coming into the game which is gonna be Pocari and we wanna really prepare for that not just physically but also mentally,” said Soriano.
“We have to make sure that we flow and we’re fluid inside the court. We have to make sure that everyone talks because when the communication is out, everything is out,” she added.
BaliPure had 12 service aces against only one from Baguio, but they also gave away 23 points to the Summer Spikers due to errors.
Maria Tsuchiya and Carmela Dicksen each had six markers for the Summer Spikers, winless in seven matches.
