MENCHIE Tubiera scored 18 points as BaliPure scored a 25-22, 20-25, 27-25, 25-22 victory over Chef’s Classics on Saturday in the PVL Open at the Arena in San Juan City.
Tubiera, a former Arellano Lady Chief, made 16 attacks and two blocks, while making 19 digs as the Water Defenders improved their win-loss record to 2-3 and kept the Lady Red Spikers winless in five matches.
Grace Bombita came up with the match-clinching spike, finishing with 13 points and 16 digs.
Shirley Salamagos had 12 points with four blocks, Mhae Mendoza adding nine markers and 11 excellent receptions, while Vira Guillema had 22 excellent sets.
“Masaya ako kasi nanalo na nandoon na ulit kami sa right track,” said BaliPure head coach Rommel Abella.
“Hindi pa ako satisfied sa ginalaw namin kanina kasi mamalyong-malayo sa inensayo namin this past few days. Happy but not satisfied,” Abella added.
BaliPure overcame 43 errors, while Chef’s Classics committed four of its 37 miscues in the crucial part of the fourth set.
Nieza Viray had 24 points and made 19 digs, while Justine Tiu had 12 points only for the Lady Red Spikers.
