BALI Pure gets a much needed boost as San Sebastian top hitter Grethcel Soltones joins the team in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Monday.
The NCAA Most Valuable Player missed the first match of the Purest Water Defenders against Air Force as she was in Europe for a series of volleyball matches with fellow Bali Pure teammate Alyssa Valdez.
But Soltones, who arrived on Friday, will be facing former mentor at San Sebastian, Roger Gorayeb, in her first game when Bali Pure faces National University at 6:00 p.m.
“First time kong kalaban si coach,” she said. “Hindi ko pa alam (ang magiging feeling ko) pero ‘di ko pa nakikita (ang mangyayari) so ‘di ko pa alam,” she said.
The outspoken and jolly volleybelle, however, put her game face on and insisted she means business even if she’s up against the team of her ‘tatay’.
Bali Pure hopes to get its acts together and recover from a loss to Air Force, 23-25, 25-14, 19-25, 16-25, a week ago.
“No naman po (hindi ako maiilang) siyempre we have to win on Monday,” she said. “Hindi na kami pwedeng matalo kasi single round elimination (ito).”
Soltones already trained with Bali Pure on Sunday.
“Training later with Bali Pure,” she shared. “A lot of adjustments kasi nag-stop po ako ng two months ng volleyball.”
“Hindi po kasi ako kondisyon (sa ngayon) sa Bali Pure walang kondisyon, ok naman ang training ng Bali Pure kahapon, medyo may konting jelling na rin po,” she added
