ATENEO-Motolite swept revamped Iriga-Navy, 25-19, 29-27, 25-14, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Kat Tolentino finished with 14 points for the Lady Eagles, who recovered from a previous loss and bagged their third win in four outings, tied with Pocari Sweat and Creamline.
“I just told them that you have to have pride and be responsible on everything you do. So I guess ‘yun ang dapat na number one na matutunan ng mga bata,” said Ateneo-Motolite coach Oliver Almadro.
The Lady Eagles, who were obviously stunned upon seeing their new opponents Joanne Bunag, Nene Bautista and Tin Agno, struggled in the second set as they trailed, 5-17.
The Lady Oragons kept a comfortable lead, 20-12, before the Katipunan-based squad cruied to a 12-0 run to snatch the lead and reach set point, 24-20.
“Unfortunately, 24-20, inabutan pa rin kami. Pero siguro they just refused to lose na kasi nandoon na eh,” said Almadro.
Bunag made 11 points for Iriga-Navy, which slid to 0-6.
