NATIONAL University and Ateneo begin their best-of-three title series for the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference on Monday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Both teams are coming off sweeps in the semifinals, with the Lady Bulldogs led by Jaja Santiago, Jorelle Singh, Aiko Urdas, rising star Jasmine Nabor and rookie Fil-Japanese sensation Risa Sato, clobbering University of the Philippines.
The Lady Eagles, on the other hand, toppled top seed Far Eastern University, with Kim Gequillana, Ana Gopico, Bea de Leon, Pauline Gaston, Julia Morado and Juliane Samonte leading the way.
Ateneo also dealt NU its lone setback in the round-robin quarterfinals.
"It was a learning experience for us,” said NU assistant coach Edjet Mabbayad.
“We’re looking forward to playing them again."
The match starts at 6 p.m.
Ateneo is also seeking payback against NU, which swept them in the decider in last year’s Collegiate Conference finals.
"It's all about playing with heart," said Ateneo skipper Michelle Morente after completing their surprise sweep of FEU.
The second match is set on Wednesday, and a third match, if needed, will be played on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ateneo goes for a sweep of NU and a second straight championship in the Spikers' Turf finals at 12 p.m.
