DAVAO CITY — Ateneo de Davao launched its title retention bid with a quick 25-18, 25-19 win over Cor Jesu College on Monday in the Shakey’s Girls V League Southern Mindanao leg at the Davao Doctors College Gym.
Cor Jesu later returned to beat Maa NHS, 25-19 25-19, and get back on track.
Davao City National High School, whose four-year dominance ended by Ateneo last year, drubbed Holy Cross College-Sasa 25-13 25-13.
Reigning Batang Pinoy national champion Tagum City National High School thumped Maa National High School, 25-15 25-12.
University of the Immaculate Conception scored a 25-16 27-25 win over Notre Dame of Cotabato City in the tournament locally organized by the Balibolista de Dabaw and serving as the qualifying event for the Shakey’s Girls V League Philippine Finals.
Holy Cross of Sasa also later evened its record, 1-1, turning back Daniel Aguinaldo National High School in the only three-setter, 17-25 25-16 25-16.
