JOVELYN Gonzaga, Royse Tubino and Nene Bautista showed the way as Pacifictown-Army outlasted Choco Mucho, 39-41, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-12, in the PVL Open Conference on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.

Less than 24 hours after helping Cignal score a five-set win over Petron in the Philippine Superliga, Gonzaga went to work to lead the Army squad of veteran spikers in a grueling two-hour and 46-minute match.

Gonzaga scored 24 points on top of 26 digs and 16 excellent receptions as the Army Troopers scored their second win in as many matches.

Honey Royse Tubino had 21 points, helping Gonzaga spark the comeback and build a 10-6 lead in the fifth.

Nene Bautista added 13 markers and delivered the finishing blows.

“Padamihan kami ng bala, tatlong oras kaming nagdadadaldal ni coach Oliver (Almadro),” said Lady Troopers head coach KungFu Reyes.

“Pagandahan lang kami, first two sets sa kanya na, pero kami dadahan-dahanin namin. Talagang nakipag pukupukan kami at kaya naming sumabay sa kanila.”

Tolentino scored 23 and Maddie Madayag added 15 for Choco Mucho, which dropped to a 1-1 win-loss record.
