PACIFICTOWN-Army guns for a semifinal berth as the Lady Troopers battle defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers on Wednesday in the PVL Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Troopers are looking to join league-leading Petro Gazz (8-1) and Creamline (7-1) in the semifinals.
BanKo looks to secure a playoff for a spot in the Final Four four of the six-team tournament as the Perlas Spikers take on Balipure.
Army and Creamline clash at 3 p.m., before BanKo (3-5) and BaliPure (0-8) face off at 5 p.m.
Pacifictown-Army, wih a 4-4 win-loss record, is looking to bounce back from a three-set loss to PetroGazz.
Focus will be on Ukraine’s Lena Lymareva-Flink and Jenelle Jordan of the US, as well as Jovelyn Gonzaga and Royse Tubino as Army looks to pull off an upset against the Cool Smashers, bannered by imports Kuttika Kaewpin and Ale Blanco with local stars Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Michele Gumabao and Risa Sato.
The Perlas Spikers remain in the hunt for a semifinal berth after ending a three-match skid by beating Motolite on Sunday, but need to win their last two matches to secure a place in the semifinals.
“Balik pa rin sa laro namin, focus pa rin kami. Last two games ito ang pinakaimportante, all out pa rin kami,” said team captain Nicole Tiamzon, who led the comeback against Motolite.
BanKo, also featuring Thailand’s Sutadta Cheuwulim, Turkey’s middle blocker Yasemin Yildirim, Kathy Bersola, Jem Ferrer and Suzanne Roces, try to prevent an upset from the also-ran Water Defenders, led by Slovenia’s Alexandra Vajdova, Montenegro’s Danijela Dzakovic and Grazielle Bombita.
“Sobrang ganda ng performance nila ngayon, sobrang paangat. So kailangan naming mag-double time rin,” Tiamzon said.
