JENELLE Jordan and Olena Lymareva-Flink showed the way as Pacifictown-Army defeated BaliPure, 25-20, 25-16, 24-26, 25-23, in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference opener on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan.
American import Jordan delivered 15 points off 10 kills, three blocks and two service aces, while Ukraine’s Lymareva-Flink also had 15 markers on 12 attacks and three aces.
It was a big win for the Lady Troopers, who are seeing action in the PVL for the first time. Army competed in 2015 in the defunct V-League before seeing action in the Philippine Super Liga.
Royse Tubino was also instrumental with nine points, while Jovelyn Gonzaga made a convincing return from an ACL injury chipping in eight points including six excellent receptions.
Pacifictown-Army head coach Kungfu Reyes was not very pleased the performance.
“First two sets kotroladong-kontrolado namin but yung third set yung breaks of the game medyo mabigat para sa amin,” said Reyes. “Once na mag-extend ang set yun yung pagod na eh. Kailangan na naming imaxi-mize talaga na kung kaya naming tapusin ng hangang third set tatapusin na namin.”
BaliPure had only one import in Alexandra Vadjova, who scored 20 points and made 11 excellent receptions. Danijela Dzakovic has yet to secure an International Transfer Certificate.
Grazielle Bombita had 18 points off 14 attacks and four aces, while making 12 digs.
