DEFENDING NCAA champion Arellano University barely broke a sweat as it disposed new comer Polytechnic University of the Philippines, 25-17, 25-6, 25-12, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.
Skipper Cristine Joy Rosario led all Arellano scorers with 10 points, Shirley Salamagos added seven, while Menchie Tubeira and Nikka Carino chipped in six markers apiece.
Guest player Mina Aganon also registered four points for the Lady Chiefs.
All of the Arellano players fielded in scored at least a point each as Legarda-based school needed only 59 minutes to complete the win against the Lady Radicals.
Arellano rained 13 service aces against PUP courtesy of Kristle Madrinico, while Angelica Legacion registered nine of the Lady Chiefs’ 11 excellent sets.
The Lady Chiefs (1-0) tied opening day winners Far Eastern University and National University for the top spot in Group A.
PUP guest player Fritz Joy Gallenero made six points, while Syra Romo added four and reinforcement Lourdes Clemente of University of Perpetual Help, Laguna, added three.
The Lady Radicals join University of Batangas and University of the Philippines at the lower half of the standings.
