ARELLANO sure knows a thing or two about showing indomitable spirit.
The NCAA runner-up gave Ateneo a dose of its own medicine as it stunned the reigning UAAP champions with a come-from-behind 21-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-20, 15-13 victory to grab the early lead in Group A in the Shakey’s V-League on Sunday night at The Arena in San Juan.
Facing a side that had to defy the odds before claiming the UAAP crown, the Lady Chiefs overhauled a 1-2 set deficit, before showing tremendous character in crunch time to score the thrilling victory.
“Swerte lang talaga,” Lady Chiefs coach Obet Javier said. “Talagang pinag-igihan yung block tsaka depensa.”
Danna Henson and CJ Rosario starred for the Lady Chiefs, who stayed undefeated in two games and evened the Lady Eagles’ win-loss slate at 1-1.
