MONTALBAN, Rizal — Trouble in paradise at Chery Tiggo?
Risa Sato was a surprise exclusion from the Crossovers’ 20-woman roster in the 2025 PVL on Tour.
With 12 titles to her name, the PVL’s winningest player last saw action for Chery Tiggo back in March 18 in a 10-25, 25-27, 21-25 loss to her former team of six years in Creamline.
That would mark just her second month as part of the Crossovers since opting not to extend her contract with the 10-time PVL champions.
As far as injuries are concerned, there has been no publicly shared information on her physical status or whether it had something to do with her extended absence.
Adding further intrigue to Sato’s whereabouts and status with the Crossovers is Chery Tiggo head coach Norman Miguel’s rather tongue-in-cheek response.
“Sorry pero I’m not in the right position to say something about that. Siguro, wag na lang muna,” Miguel said.
Paat ‘back soon’
Former PVL MVP Mylene Paat, on the other hand, is inching closer to a return.
Paat last played for the Crossovers in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference and has since been sidelined for reasons undisclosed.
Miguel guaranteed that one of the team’s veteran star wingers will soon set foot on a PVL court as the preseason tour continues.
“Si Mylene, very soon, makikita na natin siya sa court. Continuous naman yung kanyang strengthening and yung pagbalik niya sa kanyang [peak] physical [condition]. Excited din kami sa pagbabalik niya,” he said.
