ALYSSA Valdez and Jia Morado celebrated their reunion with Creamline's 25-17, 18-25, 25-15, 25-22 win over Adamson in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
The former Ateneo stars played together in the UAAP for three years, starring in the Lady Eagles’ run to back-to-back championship in 2014 and 2015.
Although the two parted ways in 2016 after Valdez's graduation, they looked as if they didn't spend time apart as Valdez scored 18 points while Morado had all of the team’s 36 excellent sets.
“Nakakainis, nakakagigil ganoon (to play with Jia),” said Valdez, understandably thrilled to have Morado setting her up. “It’s really good to play with someone you really know inside and outside of the court.”
“Definitely, ako as her teammate nakakagigil din kasi in a way sobrang makikita mo talaga na tag-iisang blocker o walang blocker yung ibibigay sa’yo ni Jia,” she added.
Morado has announced that she will no longer play her final year with Ateneo after the Lady Eagles bowed to bitter rival La Salle in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball finals in May.
But that doesn't mean she's turning her back on volleyball.
“It feels great to play. It’s always fun naman to play, win or lose. It’s a great experience playing with new players naman this time,” said Morado.
“I’m happy to be back after a short break and I really never said goodbye naman to volleyball. I’m just really happy to be back,” she added.
