IT isn’t in Creamline’s nature to point fingers and play the blame game in times of defeat.
Like fellow AVC representatives Petro Gazz and PLDT, the Philippines’ three-team contingent spent the last five months battling it out in the PVL’s longest conference yet.
While fatigue is a given for all teams, more so for All-Filipino finalists Creamline and Petro Gazz, there’s one particular aspect which the Cool Smashers admittedly fell flat in heading into the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League.

The way team captain Alyssa Valdez puts it, Creamline was rather ‘underprepared’ for the ‘shock factor’ of the regional tournament.
That’s why they were much more of a dominant force in the PVL than in the regional play, apart from the continental meet’s much-higher opposition level.
“Technically in the PVL, we have time to study all the opponents. Mas matagal. In this tournament, hindi mo alam kung sino ipapasok or ano yung team na ipapadala so may gulatan factor,” said Valdez.
“I think that’s the beauty of the AVC tournament, you play with your feelings depende sa sitwasyon.”
Moreover, Valdez highlighted how part of winning 10 titles in eight years was brought about by the team’s adaptability in times of adversity and uncertainty.
“In terms of those kind of mga pagbabago, I think we just have to take it talaga,” the ‘Phenom’ said.
“Du’n tayo natututo and yung gulatan factor na ‘yun, du’n talaga lalabas yung skills mo kung ano na mga natutunan mo for the past how many years we’ve been playing with the team and with all those experiences.
“Honestly, minsan ang sarap din sa pakiramdam na kahit papaano, may gulatan feeling ka pa rin kasi it gives you thrill and excites you more as a player.”
