ALYSSA Valdez said she is looking forward to a dream reunion with former and current Ateneo stars in a team being eyed to compete in the Shakey's V-League Open Conference starting next week.
V-League commissioner and Ateneo team manager Tonyboy Liao has bared to SPIN.ph plans to put up a composite team of former and current Lady Eagles and Valdez is hoping it pushes through.
“Sana, sana. We’re really hoping na matuloy talaga ‘yun as in,” Valdez told SPIN.ph on Friday during a break in the Manila leg of her volleyball camp.
The three-time UAAP MVP has confirmed she will play in the V-League at the end of her Ateneo career, but has yet to make up her mind on which team to play for.
Now she's hoping to join this team.
“We’ll just be lucky to be teammates again and play with each other again, so it’s really exciting to look forward to playing with them again,” said the 22-year-old pride of San Juan, Batangas.
Set to join Valdez in the team are former Ateneo stars like Denden Lazaro, Charo Soriano, and Kara Acevedo as well as holdovers Jo Maraguinot, Jia Morado and Bea de Leon.
Bea Tan, Ella de Jesus, and Bea Pascual might also suit up for the Katipunan-based squad - a thought that excites Valdez no end.
“Kasi ‘yung iba naman hindi ko rin naman naging teammates talaga eh,” she said. “Like sina Ate Cha, hindi ko rin naman naabutan, ang naabutan ko lang si Bea Tan, si Den, si Ella.
"Si Kara hindi ko rin naabutan, si Bea Pascual so parang it’s really fun and really exciting we’re looking back talaga kung sinu-sino na ang players na na-produce ng Ateneo.”
The V-League season will kick off on May 22.
