AS she savored another Shakey's V-League championship, Alyssa Valdez refused to dwell on the controversy with mother school Ateneo that almost forced her to sit out the entire tournament.

The popular spiker sat out the run-up to the tournament for PLDT Home Ultera and was a doubt for the championship series as well because of strict Ateneo order to rest ahead of the coming UAAP campaign.

The 22-year old Lady Eagles star, however, defied school orders by coming off the bench in Game Two and ended up leading the Ultra Fast Spikers to the Season 12 Reinforced Conference championship against Philippine Army.

“Maybe let’s not dwell on that,” she said shortly after PLDT defeated Philippine Army, 25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, in the title decider on Sunday at The Arena.

"’Cause we’re here already, the conference is a success, we’re all happy naman," Valdez added.

Valdez admitted there are 'consequences' to her action, but chalked it up to a lesson learned.

"May mga consequences, may mga advantages and disadvantages na nangyari,” said Valdez. “I guess it’s done na eh. We’re here na, all I can say is everyone has to learn from whatever decision they make.

"So I’m happy na, I think character building din ‘yung nangyari for the past two weeks, but I’m really happy for the support sa akin.”

In the end, everything proved worth it as Alyssa not only won a championship but also lifted the Finals MVP award, despite playing a grand total of two games.

“I’m so grateful na nabigyan ako ng opportunity na maglaro for this championship,” she said. “(But) it’s really random that I got the MVP but I’m really grateful for it.”
