THE Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) has yet to discuss with Alyssa Valdez the invitation sent by a Thai club, but officials are eager to see a Filipina in action in a professional league overseas.
Valdez is on a vacation abroad and LVPI president Joey Romasanta is hoping to speak with the volleyball star out of Ateneo personally as soon as she returns on Friday.
“We are excitingly supportive. It’s a big honor for the volleyball community to be regarded as a guest player or an import,” said Romasanta, adding they hope it would open doors for other Filipino volleyball players to play as professionals abroad.
LVPI has informed Valdez about the letter sent by 3B Nakornnont Volleyball Club asking the Philippine federation to allow the three-time UAAP MVP to play in the Thailand league for two-and-a-half months.
“Gusto ko lang makausap para lang maliwanagan kung ano status niyan at due diligence din para sa interest niya dahil first time natin mae-encounter ito,” said Romasanta.
“Kung may susunod pa, alam na natin kung ano ’yung watch points. Gusto ko lang kumuha ng guidance sa kanya,” said Romasanta.
