ALYSSA Valdez chanted ‘MVP’ to give Jema Galanza the credit in Creamline’s victory over Petro Gazz in Game One of the best-of-three finals series of Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Wednesday.
The former Adamson University star played a vital role in the Cool Smasher’s,25-14, 25-22, 27-25, coming up with 15 points and 10 digs in the match that took an hour and 25 minutes to finish.
The Creamline duo was in the press room for the post-game interview, and while Galanza was being asked on her performance, Valdez was cheering her on.
“What I saw in today's game, Jema really matured from the first time I get to be with her as a teammate,” said Valdez.
“Iba na 'yung growth niya as a player and as an individual. Napakita niya iyon sa game, na pag end game, alam mong lalaban na talaga,” she added.
But for Galanza, who currently leads the MVP race, she’s more focused on the championship than on the individual award.
“Para sa akin naman po, sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam kasi lahat ng pinaghirapan ng team at pinaghihirapan ko, may nangyayari, na alam mo ‘yung pagod talaga, may nangyayari din. Mas happy ako pag nagchampion kami,” she said.
Holding on a 1-0 lead, Creamline can wrap the best-of-three series on Saturday.
“Magleless error talaga kami kasi kanina sa game marami kaming nacommit na error, and as a team mas mageenjoy pa kami sa loob ng court,” said Galanza.
