ALYSSA Valdez has essayed a poetic comeback so far for Creamline after a four-month injury layoff just before the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Now’s the time to finish that story.
The Cool Smashers welcomed Valdez back in their season-opening sweep of eventual title foe Petro Gazz in Antipolo.
From there, she had a triple-double to her name and a few player of the game performances on the road to an impending PVL Finals comeback.

Such a resurgent form is a testament to the fact that the ‘Phenom’ didn’t return to the taraflex just for the sake of being back.
She’s here to put on a show once more as she’s always been known for. But most importantly, Valdez is here to win more and win again.
“The story is not yet done,” Valdez told SPIN.ph.
“I think it’s going to be a real hard work going to the last chapters of this book but definitely, hopefully, it will be worthwhile.”
Her story so far, and one she hopes to close on a triumphant note, is one built on shrugging off growing pains from recurring injuries and putting on a newer and stronger version of her already-phenomenal self.
“Iba yung feeling, definitely, kasi this will be my first PVL Finals after my injury. Iba rin yung kaba, iba yung pressure na nararamdaman ko,” Valdez said.
“Sabi ko nga, after being away from volleyball for how many months, iba agad yung pagbalik mo na yung competition is napaka-taas at lahat talaga nag-iimprove.
Most definitely, pagdating ng finals na ‘to coming off an injury, lahat extra but extra, extra rin talaga yung excitement na nararamdaman ko.”
Pressure, even for one of the sport’s very best, won’t ever run dry as Valdez returns underneath the brightest lights that have long been her playground in her heralded career.
“Alam mo, kapag may finals, iba-iba yung nararamdaman ko pero yung kaba, it’s the same. Lahat ng kaba,e very single game, same,” the Creamline captain said.
“Extra kaba, extra effort ako to contain my emotions during finals. Yun yung isa sa mga hindi ko makakalimutan at hindi magbabago every finals series.”
