ALYSSA Valdez dropped 37 points to lead Creamline to a thrilling 25-20, 28-30, 25-19, 31-29 win over BaliPure in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
The three-time V-League MVP unloaded 34 spikes, one block and two service aces to go with 17 digs for the Cool Smashers, who are now tied with defending champion Pocari Sweat at the top of 2-0 win-loss records.
“Iba rin kasi talaga ang laban kasi very strong din ang BaliPure. From the last conference, tough din talaga ang mga matches na ginawa nila - a very strong and very brave young team,” said Valdez.
“Siguro breaks of the game din talaga siguro ang nagpa-win sa amin. Definitely, pinaghirapan ng both teams para maabot sa ganoong kalayong score,” she added.
The former Ateneo star came two points shy of her career best in the league when she suited up for Bureau of Customs in the Reinforced edition last year.
She also came three points away from Pocari Sweat import Michelle Strizak’s record in this year’s Reinforced Conference.
Rosemarie Vargas added 19 points for Creamline while Pau Soriano had 14 markers and playmaker Jia Morado had 71 of the team’s 75 excellent sets in a match that took two hours and three hours to finish.
Grethcel Soltones led the way for BaliPure with 18 points while Risa Sato and Aiko Urdas added 14 and 12 markers, respectively.
Jasmine Nabor also had 61 excellent sets for the Water Defenders, who evened their record to 1-1.
