CREAMLINE routed Ateneo-Motolite, 25-17, 25-10, 25-15, in the opener of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference best-of-three finals on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Alyssa Valdez scored 14 and Michele Gumabao added 12 to lead the way for the Cool Smashers, who are gunning for their back-to-back championship after winning the Reinforced Conference.

“I think very happy lang na ganito yung result din. Hindi naman namin binabalewala ‘yung Ateneo pero we’re just really happy to get the win,” said Valdez.

Creamline looks to end the series on Saturday at Batangas City Sports Coliseum.

But Valdez is not counting the Lady Eagles out, knowing her former team is capable of getting back up.

“Syempre sa second game paghahandaan namin, kasi ‘yun talaga ‘yung do-or-die game,” she said. “Pag do-or-die lahat ng bola parang last point na match point din.”

Playmaker Jia Morado registered all of the team’s 23 excellent sets as Creamline scored 41 attacks against Ateneo-Motolite’s 22 spikes.
