ALYSSA Valdez is back in a familiar territory as she plays in the semifinals of the V-League, this time with new teammates at new club Bureau of Customs.

The former Ateneo star says feels weird playing against fellow ex-Lady Eagles, but she likes the challenge.

"It’s weird pa din, you know if your teammates are your long time teammates and friends, iba rin talaga entering the semis," said Valdez.

"Ako I’m just going out of my comfort zone and it’s really a nice challenge for me to get to know myself kung ano pa ang kailangan kong i-improve din," she added.

Valdez led Ateneo-powered BaliPure to third place in the Open Conference as is now tasked to help carry Customs to the top. Her long-time teammate like Amy Ahomiro and former Ateneo star Dzi Gervacio, meanwhile, try to help the Water Defenders improve on that bronze finish.

Customs is in fourth spot with a 4-2 win-loss card, while Bali Pure and Pocari Sweat are tied for second with 4-1 slates behind University of Sto. Tomas (5-1).

"Kasi siyempre kilala mo na rin ang mga kasama mo you’re comfortable with everything. It’s not just about volleyball ang natutunan ko, it’s about life in general and how will I adjust sa mga circumstances na ibinibigay sa akin inside and outside of the court," she said.

Customs faces Philippine Air Force at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
