ALYSSA Valdez celebrated her 21st birthday with a quick 25-15, 25-12, 25-21 win over Philippine National Police in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 Open Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
Valdez came up with 19 points as the Lady Eagles finished the match in 75 minutes.
“What a way to celebrate my day,” said the Ateneo star, who received gifts from fans. “The gifts made me feel so special, nakaka-overwhelm. Nagvo-volleyball lang naman ako tapos ganoon ang tanggap sa akin.”
“Pero nanalo kami kasi nagte-training kami, maganda ang performance namin di lang naman ako, everyone contributed even ’yung mga rookies. At least nakikita namin ang pinaghihirapan namin,” said Valdez.
The Lady Eagles also dominated the net against the Lady Patrolers with six blocks to none and capitalized on PNP's poor reception as it fired nine service aces. PNP only had one point from the service line.
Ateneo also registered 14 excellent reception compared to just five of PNP.
