CREAMLINE captain Alyssa Valdez was overwhelmed to have the support of Philippine basketball’s ‘Iron Man’ in L.A. Tenorio.
The Ginebra ace was in attendance at the Philsports Arena as the Cool Smashers drew first blood in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals with a 25-10, 27-25, 25-21 sweep over Chery Tiggo on Tuesday.

“Si kuya L.A, he’s a legend in this community, in this sports community. (His support) is a testament na with the quality of sports we’re having, the quality of games we’re having here in volleyball, ma-eencourage din talaga lahat manood,” Valdez said.
Tenorio was Valdez’ second guest in her newest podcast ‘The Transition Playbook’ where the champion duo had a candid chat on the highs and lows of their illustrious careers just as they reach the twilight of their athletic lives.
Hailing from different sporting worlds, Valdez stressed the importance of establishing such firm foundations of support and camaraderie for the greater good of Philippine sports.
“It’s always great and nice na we as athletes support each other talaga. If hindi pa kayo nakakapanood ng podcast, sana panoorin niyo. It was insightful talaga, my conversation with kuya LA,” Valdez said.
“I really appreciate the community more, the sport more and it’s just so nice to be surrounded by great athletes. Very humble and talagang inspirasyon ko din sila.”
As the face of Philippine volleyball in its continuous ascent, Valdez hopes that such a show of support from Tenorio sets a promising and uplifting precedent for Filipino athletes.
“Kung naeencourage din ang mga kapwa atleta (na manood ng volleyball), sana yung iba rin, ma-encourage manood ng women’s and men’s volleyball and also beach volleyball. Lahat ng volleyball,” she said.
