DESPITE being in the spotlight for more than a decade now, Creamline captain Alyssa Valdez is still humbled by the overwhelming support she has received from the Philippine volleyball community.
Valdez, 31, sees such a devout fanbase as a proud testament of her longevity as a player and the sporting fanbase’s growing loyalty and support in the country.

“We’re very, very grateful for all the people, supporters, fans na simula noon hanggang ngayon, patuloy na sumusuporta,” Valdez shared with SPIN.ph.
“I just want to take this opportunity to actually thank them. It’s really a sign of me really being here for quite a while. Hopefully, it will stay the same para mas matagal pa ako rito," she added.
“Sana mas ma-enjoy pa nila yung sport with how competitive it is right now. Sana mas dumami and mas masaya pa yung community.”
One might think that she’s already used to the limelight by now as the sport’s longtime darling.
But even to this day, with an 8,360-strong Antipolo crowd in their loss to Petro Gazz and a 6,152-strong Pasig crowd in their win over Akari, it all still feels surreal for the ‘Phenom.’
“Nakaka-overwhelm pa rin yung mga ganitong klaseng support na natatanggap namin kasi you’re just doing what you love, showing up also during games and they show up at the same time,” Valdez said.
“Iba rin talaga yung time and effort na binibigay nila para sa’min so maraming, maraming salamat sa kanila.”
Her one wish for Philippine volleyball’s legions of fans and all those still to come? Spread love and spread Creamline’s signature ‘good vibes,’ both on social media and at the games.
“Sana ma-enjoy pa nila and sana good vibes lang ang i-spread natin on social media and here when we’re watching the games live,” the Creamline skipper said.
