ALYSSA Solomon is taking her talents to Japan.
The former National University star has signed with reigning Japan SV.League champion Osaka Marvelous ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Solomon is the fifth Filipina import to enter the top flight of Japanese volleyball and now the second active player alongside Jaja Santiago (Sachi Minowa), a former Marvelous player herself.
Santiago, a fellow Lady Bulldog icon like Solomon, left the champion club at the conclusion of last season’s title run and joined Alas Pilipinas captain’ Jia de Guzman’s former club Denso Airybees.

“Solomon is an opposite who has competed in many international tournaments as the Philippines representative, and he has a great variety of aggressiveness,” the Japanese club wrote on Tuesday.
“With the addition of Solomon, we will strengthen our team capabilities even more and move forward to achieving a consecutive title in the SV. League.”

The Osaka-based side will be acquiring one of Philippine volleyball’s most dominant on-court talents in both the UAAP and with Alas Pilipinas.
From her glory days with NU-Nazareth, the two-time Palarong Pambansa MVP rose to the seniors ranks and won six titles for National U from high school to college.
Twice a UAAP best opposite hitter, Solomon now gets the chance to bring her act overseas in one of the world’s biggest sporting nations after a plan to move to Korea’s top flight volleyball league earlier this year failed to push through.
Solomon's debut is slated in October at the start of Osaka's title defense in the new Japan SV.League season.
